Site Visit

Site Visit

The site is relatively flat, with a gentle slope towards the Brisbane River.

It is framed by tree’s and undergrowth on all sides, however it only has 2 area’s on the Western part of the site (Jesmond Road side) with established trees (5 Trees).

The carpark is quite large, but with the number of children to be cared for in the Early Learning Centre, this would need to be expanded, as by segregating this parking lot for only parents of the children, this will minimise the number of patrons able to enter the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary.

The sense of wayfinding from Jesmond Road to the site and to the entry into the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is not overly obvious. This will need to be addressed, especially as some of the families may have never visited the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary prior to visiting the Early Childhood Learning Centre.

Another point of concern is the level of security, as the site contains the parking lot, it will require higher security so that children do not run into the carpark when cars are driving.
